Christmas Ride

Every year, when winter lays its frosty embrace over the streets and the year slowly draws to a close, there is a very special event that warms the hearts of many: a small but courageous group of WIMA riders set out to bring light and joy into the dark season.

Preparations often begin days in advance. Costumes are carefully selected and customised, the motorbikes are lovingly decorated and donations are collected. Each rider not only puts time and effort into this special event, but also a large portion of heart and soul. It is this dedication that makes the ride an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

Traditionally, the Christmas trip starts on Friday before Christmas Eve. The meeting point? The Praterstern, one of Vienna’s most famous squares. The riders gather there in their festive outfits and get on their decorated bikes. From there they set off on a leisurely ride around the Vienna Ring. A special highlight of the route is the stop at St. Anna Children’s Hospital, where the children hold a special place in the hearts of the WIMA riders.

During the journey, the drivers hand out sweets to the children they meet along the way. The shining eyes of the little ones reflect their joy, and the adults often can’t help but smile too. It is a magical moment when the dressed-up motorcyclists parade through the streets and bring warmth to people’s hearts.

Even if the temperatures are freezing, the riders themselves don’t stay cold. The warmth they feel comes from within – it is the joy of bringing joy to others. It is the warmth that comes from this special mission and the knowledge that they are bringing a little piece of Christmas into people’s hearts with their commitment.

The WIMA riders Christmas ride is not just a nice ritual, but a symbol of community, helpfulness and the power of small gestures that can make a big difference. Because sometimes a smile is enough to warm a heart – and that’s exactly what the WIMA riders bring to the cold, dark season every year with their ride.
