Hello dear readers,
We took the plunge! Two women, both a little older, traveled through the Balkans on our motorcycles – and it was simply fantastic.
We embarked on the adventure without a satnav, just with good old maps. And what can I say? It was worth every bend in the road!
Our journey began with a ferry to Greece. The gorse was in full bloom and the national parks were at their most beautiful.

We continued through Albania, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Bosnia, Croatia, Slovenia and finally to Italy. We drove breathtaking routes, often all alone on winding roads that took us through deep gorges and over high mountains.
The people we met were warm and helpful. We found fun and very special hotels that made us feel at home.
And the food? Simply excellent and incredibly cheap!

Nature spoiled us with turquoise-blue lakes and a sea in the same radiant colors. And yes, sometimes we shared the road with cows leisurely going their way. Our trusty BMW F800 GS and F700 GS accompanied us through all these adventures and only let us down once, when we had to tighten the chain. But even that was quickly fixed thanks to the help of a nice friends, mechanic – unfortunately BMW in Split didn’t want to help us.

Petrol stations were never a problem, and we drove a total of around 5000 kilometers. The weather was a dream, mostly hot and sunny, and it only rained once – just when we were taking a break anyway.
We returned home happy and with countless impressions. Our conclusion: The Balkans are highly recommended! If we can do it, you can do it too.
See you on your next adventure,
Your adventurous WIMA’s
