– a brief glimpse behind the scenes at WIMA Austria
Last night, at our regular get-together, we had a chat with some women who are interested in WIMA Austria and may well be joining us soon.
During the conversation, one comment really gave us pause for thought:
“You only organise this big event (the rally) once a year – and apart from that, it’s just the regular get-togethers.”
That got us thinking. Because actually, there’s a lot more going on with us than that.
Up until now, we’d assumed that we were making our activities sufficiently visible through our various channels – our website, Instagram and Facebook. But if, when viewed from the outside, we’re actually mainly perceived as being all about the rally and our regular get-togethers, then we clearly have quite a bit to share.
Of course, there are our major, regular fixtures: the international WIMA Rally (meeting), the start of the season, the end of the season, the D.A.CH. meeting and our regular get-togethers.

But there’s a whole lot more going on in between and all around that.
There are group rides, small get-togethers, repair and tinkering workshops, road safety courses, off-road training sessions, spontaneous trips, planned weekend outings, group activities, parties and plenty of opportunities where we simply spend time together.

We organise and discuss much of this internally via our Discord server.
That’s where we agree on dates, come up with ideas, plan rides and sometimes even fire up the motorbikes on the spur of the moment. And that, for us, is a key part of WIMA.

We are a club – and our aim is to bring female motorcyclists together and to support women who ride motorbikes. This can happen at a major international WIMA event, at a get-together with our D.A.CH. sisters, or quite simply on a short ride with a few other members.
Sometimes it’s a tour that’s been planned well in advance. Sometimes an idea only comes about the night before.
And sometimes you’re simply out on your own and share your experiences with the others afterwards.
For us, all of this is part of the WIMA motorcycling experience.
Why don’t outsiders see more of it?
Quite simply: not all of our activities are publicly announced or shared on our social media channels. And that’s entirely by design.
WIMA is intended not only to be a public platform, but also a safe space for female motorcyclists. A place where you can get to know one another, exchange ideas and share experiences – and where everyone is free to decide for themselves how much they want to reveal about themselves and their motorcycling life to the outside world.
That’s why we’d like to clear up a small misunderstanding here:
Just because something isn’t visible on Instagram, Facebook or our website doesn’t mean it isn’t happening here. WIMA-Austria’s 30-year history proves the opposite.
Anyone who’s curious and would like to take a closer look behind the scenes is very welcome.
You can get in touch with us at any time, drop by our regulars’ get-together or join us at an advertised event. And if, afterwards, you can see yourself becoming part of WIMA Austria, our inner circle is open to you too.
There, you’ll get to see first-hand what’s currently being planned, join us on tours, contribute your own ideas and simply experience what WIMA means to us.
So: go on, give it a go.
Don’t just look at what we show to the outside world, but feel free to take a peek behind the scenes too.
We look forward to seeing you.
