Wima Austria Frauen Motorrad Organisation 25th Jubiläum V3

25 years

When in 1995 an international WIMA rally took place in Sweden, an Austrian woman was also present.
Uli, who was a pioneer in founding a women’s motorbike regulars’ table in Vienna, was among them.

The atmosphere there was contagious and so she brought the WIMA idea to Austria as a souvenir.
In 1996, the time had come: the application from Austria to lead a national WIMA was accepted by the WIMA International Committee and WIMA-Austria was founded.

25 years have passed and WIMA-Austria has contributed a lot to the WIMA idea during this time. Be it through the Austrian representatives in WIMA International or through activities in and around Austria, where we have shown our colours.

However, 25 years are also a reason not only to look back but also to look ahead:
We will continue to expand our internal events.
For example, the D.A.CH meeting, which will probably soon not be a D.A.CH meeting anymore, but rather an EU meeting, and which will take place this year from 12-19 June in Carinthia.
As Corona allows, we will also celebrate our anniversary vigorously there.

For 25 years we have avoided a clear structure and lived the flexibility of a loose association.
Quite successfully, but this year we will also take the step of founding an organisation. Why?
Due to the growing number of WIMAs in Austria, clear structures and procedures have become necessary in some matters. Our statutes will give us a clear framework of our goals and ways in the future.

However, 25 years are also a reason to thank all those who have found their way to WIMA-Austria over the years and have kept it alive and even let it grow with their participation in the various events.

In this spirit:
Many thanks to all WIMA’s and see you at the latest at the anniversary meeting in June!
