Ankommen, Wiedersehen und Fernweh

After many weeks of preparation, the time had finally come: Our annual DACH meeting was just around the corner—and this time, we had a very special occasion to celebrate. Together, we wanted to raise a toast to 30 years of WIMA Austria and mark this anniversary with friends from across the German-speaking world and beyond.

The destination was Reichenau im Mühlkreis, more specifically the Landgasthof Seyrlberg, which would serve as our base for the coming days. While some participants didn’t start their motorcycles until Friday morning, many of our international guests had already been on the road for much longer. Some had already spent several days traveling before finally arriving in the Mühlviertel.

But regardless of how far the journey had been—by Friday evening, everyone had arrived. The joy of seeing each other again was immense, and the outdoor dining area quickly filled with conversation, hugs, and the familiar feeling of being among friends.

For dinner, we were treated to a regional specialty: Mühlviertel pizza. At first glance, it might have seemed a bit smaller than expected, but it turned out to be incredibly tasty and surprisingly filling—just the thing after a long day of traveling.

Afterward, Claudia and Gea took us on an impressive journey through the Caucasus. In their travel talk, they recounted their tour through the Balkans, Turkey, Georgia, and Armenia. Georgia and Armenia, in particular, were presented in detail and sparked a longing for travel in many of us. The pictures and stories took us to historic sites of Christianity, spectacular landscapes, and unique sights that were previously completely unknown to most of us.

For many participants, this talk offered a fascinating glimpse into a different world. Interest was correspondingly high, and after the official portion of the event, people continued to talk at length about travel routes, experiences, and future adventures.

Of course, the classic “motorcycle talk” was also a must. During a cozy get-together, we shared touring experiences, inspected motorcycles, and made plans for upcoming trips. It wasn’t until late into the evening that the last of us headed for bed—full of anticipation for the days ahead that we would spend together.
